Two-day mounted archery clinic for beginners. Bring your horse for training or rent one of ours. There will be ground archery instruction as well as mounted archery instruction. August 1 & 29, 2020 Mounted Archery Clinics
New England Mounted Archers will be hosting one-day clinics on Saturday, August 1 and August 29.
We will be working in small groups emphasizing archery skills and horse skills. Groups will be assigned according to experience and ability. Basic riding skills are required. You may bring your own horse or borrow ours.
Clinic will include:
• Safety of bow and arrow handling
• Bring your own archery equipment or borrow ours
• Archery instruction on the ground and on horseback, with choice of Mediterranean or Mongolian styles
• How to prepare your horse for mounted archery
• Archery course in an outdoor arena
• We'll help you increase confidence, speed, and accuracy at beginner and intermediate levels
Cost of the workshop is $100 if you bring your own horse, $125 if you ride ours. Full payment is due beforehand. Auditors or ground archers (not riding) may attend for a reduced fee. Bring your own lunch.
Due to COVID we are having a smaller event than usual and will be practicing safe social distancing at this event. Please bring your face mask.
Payments can be made by check, cash, or Paypal.

October 12&13, 2019: Horse Archery Clinic Weekend
On October 12th and 13th we will be hosting a horse archery clinic at our farm in Plainfield, VT for beginner and intermediate students. The clinic runs Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. We will be working in small groups emphasizing archery skills and horse skills, groups are arranged around experience and ability. On Sunday afternoon we will have a friendly Mounted Archery "competition" where each rider will show off their skills. Everybody works at their own level.
Topics to include:
• Safety. Bow and arrow handling.
• Choice of equipment
• Archery skills, both Mediterranean and Mongolian styles
• Instruction shooting. Standing, sitting, horseback
• Horsemanship skills and preparing horses for mounted archery.
• Opportunity to try your skills on course
• Increasing confidence, speed & accuracy for advanced beginner and intermediate students
Cost of the workshop is $350. $150 holds your place. Full payment is due by Oct 1. Cost includes board for your horse (self-care, bring your own hay & shavings, leave your stall clean, turn out available), or use of one of our horses. Auditors are welcome @ $35/day, $50/day for hands-on archery, but not riding.
